Hi,
I'm currently setting up my Raspberry Pi 4 Model B 4GB to be usable as a NAS. To do this I'm thinking of connecting a WD Red 2TB HDD (256MB cache) to the Raspberry Pi using a USB 3.0 to SATA III adapter. The HDD uses a SATA 15-Pin Power Connector Pinout.
I can directly connect the Raspberry Pi to an electrical socket but I can't seem to do the same with the HDD. I can't find a SATA 15-pin to electrical socket adapter anywhere. Am I supposed to get a PSU solely for powering the HDD or can I go about it in another way?
As you might have guessed from the question. This is my first time connecting external hardware to the RPi. If I'm making any wrong assumptions I'd be happy if they were pointed out.
