I was about to buy a bare-bones kit for my build, but during some research i found some people saying that this CPU is not as good as face value.

1. Does anyone know about its reliability?

2.Any info on how well it multi tasks?

Additional info:
I don't plan on OC here's the link to the kit if you need more specific info.

AM3+ is the cpu socket, it basically lets you know what type of CPU you can put into your motherboard. The AM3+ has been a great socket with a good variety of CPUs that will work in it.

That said, that is really not a bad deal. However, you can get a better balanced machine by pieceing together your own system.

What is your exact budget and what do you plan on using the system for?

So, I am supposed to guess what the hell OP is talking about? If OP meant the CPU, OP should have said that.

plus he didn't even say cpu socket he said Am3+

AM3+ is the socket-type. If someone doesn't understand that, they should do some more research. Or a lot.

I have a Gigabyte AM3+ motherboard. AM3+ is an AMD cpu socket. As long as you plan on using AMD processors, it's fine, nothing wrong with it.

As for the kit, it's not bad. Here's what I would change;

Ditch that PSU and get a Corsair or XFX or Seasonic.

That kit does not contain a video card and there's is no on board video, so your going to need a video card too. I recomend nVidia, but opinions on that will vary depending on who you talk to.

Heres a better overall kit, for a touch less, and with the savings, you can get more memory to match the first kits 8GB, http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7835023&Sku=B69-0819

As for performance, I have yet to find anything my AMD system cannot handle.

My opinion, YMMV

I am not an expert in the world of computers, so i was going to go with this bare bones kit and add on what i need, I have found most of the parts that i need, but like i said i am close to tracking everything down until i saw the article that my AMD *PROCESSOR* isn't worth the money. I have another thread going that explains my price range, and the parts that i have gathered. if you could check that out i would be very appreciative.😀

u sir are talking to the hand...

not because u are wrong (amd is not as bad as people like to think) but because in every thread u are answering to u do not a give real evidence. Because that u lose your credibility.

He's been getting better, but he still has the mindset that if you disagree with him, you're an Intel fanboy.

If this was a "no fanboy" zone or "fanboy" was censored then this forum will be a bunch of *****'s and ######'s, is it fanboy to have preferances? geez people need to grow up.

This forum harbors a lot of animosity and its very driven against the AMD user, THG themselves have shown at times a almost nonchalant attitude towards it do. Whenever a AMD thread comes up its always singular driven on AMD's weakness? What about the strengths of AMD's arch, what about the facets of computing where they are scoring wins, what about CMT/SMT, HSA, iGPU success, or better yet how about parity, lets also focus on intels draw backs.

We have our preferences, we have our brands and if it does what we need then who are people to brand us fanboys because we don't follow the lambs to slaughter. Lets just cut the crap "fanboy" inuendo.

Why did you assume that dirtyferret and I hate AMD?

No one here was saying that AMD is bad, but you had to make it a point to feel victimized.

I didn't imply any hate, and I am sorry if you assumed that much. Perhaps what I hate is the rather nonchalant attitude towards brand preference. As before, we use what makes us happy and if that happens to be a AMD, or Intel, Seasonic, OCZ then who really cares.

Oh really?

Please review these threads for credible evidence:

I am not going to repost every single piece of evidence, when I have clearly done so multiple times for anyone who is actually paying attention. You just happen to read the threads where I am not willing to track down and repost every link. I have stated my facts, and provided solid supporting evidence for them...

If I am a fanboy...then there sure are a metric ton of rabid, zealous intel fanboys in here...and I suppose one more AMD "fanboy" won't even begin to balance out the difference. So why should you care anyway?

Great Intel leadership

Proof ICC is still not fixed

Want anymore proof about what kind of company Intel is? Because that's the only thing I had not already provided proof about elsewhere. The performance gap is minimal, and that aside, the ethics of the company only serve to show that they are not at all operating to allow fair competition...that alone is reason enough to stop buying their products for me. The fact that AMD is as close as it is in performance is a testament to their ingenuity and motivation...for that reason alone many more people should support AMD than currently do. Imagine a world where AMD and intel have closer to 60/40 split of the CPU market...what kind of competition do you think you would get from both of them at that point? Who wins in that scenario? The consumer...that's who.

This is what you're dealing with now:

Look at the dominance and monopoly section, and note the section about paying unnecessarily higher prices for market dominant brands.
