Ok thank and another think. I bought a seagate hdd st1000dm010 and its not in the list of compatible devices. Will it work???You can try it and it may work.
The only way to know is to try.
Personally, most of the time I do this it works.
I think the chances of the HDD working are probably even better than the memory working.Ok thank and another think. I bought a seagate hdd st1000dm010 and its not in the list of compatible devices. Will it work???

Okay thank yo SO much!QVL is a joke. It's a Qualified Vendor List, not a qualified Ram list.
There's only a dozen or so actual ram OEMs, the largest of which are SkHynix, Micron, Samsung. The OEMs supply the ram chips, stick other people heatsink/paint job on them. So if you see the blue heatsink gskill 3200MHz on QVL, tested in 4pack kit, it's the same ram as the red or black heatsink 2pack kit that's not on the list. It's also the same ram as in Patriot, crucial, Kingston, Corsair, etc that's not on the list.
There's closer to 5000 different combinations of gskill Trident-Z alone, most are not on the list, figure there's that many in other lines, like aries, RipJaws, etc. If you add up all the individual serial codes from all the Vendors, you'd have a QVL listing millions of tests deep, taking thousands of man hours per motherboard, multiply that by the amount of motherboards needing to be tested, amount of vendors making motherboards and the number is staggering as to how much wasted time, money, effort would go into the whole thing.
So vendors test a few sticks, from the more popular vendors, at several different speeds. And call it a QVL. Chances are extremely high that any ram you use, is on the list, just tested under another brand or speed or model.
