A valid, but otherwise unactivated, Win 10 install? Will I be able to register my copy of Office on an unregistered version of Win10?

Probably.
Given a currently valid Win 10 license linked to a MS account, you can probably transfer that to new hardware for free.Yes it will just be from my Win10 USB. I am switching the motherboard out of my girlfriends computer which she uses very lightly and don't want to buy another key right now.

Something that was preinstalled is one of the few cases where it can't be transferred.Oh wow thank you! I looked around but couldn't find anything like this. I'll try it out. It is a version that came pre-installed on the computer at the time of purchase, but its worth a shot.
