Can i run R9 290 with an 550W PSU?

I wonder if i can run a r9 290 model(like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150701) with the CORSAIR VS550W PSU i have,plus an overclocked fx-6300 at 4ghz(1.3vcore).The rest of the system is the following.Thanks in advance guys!

I saw that the 290 has the highest power consumption,and im afraid that my psu might get fried,cause i have the cpu oc'ed(not high oc,but its stil an oc).Is there a better idea psuwise,instead of the 290,with the same wattage requirements?

Well you can get a better gpu! The GTX 970 and it requires less power then the R9 290

I have a spent limit of 300,i apologize for not telling you,and therefore the 970 is out of my league.So i guess you will recommend the gtx 780?And one more question,should i pair a amd cpu with an nvidia card,or is it better to pair it with an amd one?Do i get a better efficiency if i pair same brands?

Well your CPU will bottleneck that GTX 970 and the R9 290 too. My advise is to save up and later upgrade that GPU and CPU. here is a reference that you can read too.

So i suspect that the 280x would be the best suitable gpu for an oced 6300.
