Can I run TV cases/chassis through the dishwasher?

I've got two very dirty CRT televisions that I've taken a liking to, but they're just so filthy that no (reasonable) amount of rubbing alcohol and q-tips can clean. Can I run their plastic cases in the dishwasher without them suffering any sort of chemical damage?

May depend on what kind of plastic it is.

PET plastic won't do over 60 degrees C without changing shape for instance.

I think I'm going to wash them by hand...I just read something on Phthalates being released from the plastic when it's put under such harsh conditions. Any opinions on that?

Not my area.

However if I have a grape plastic box on my washing sink and pour out what just has been boiling water over it it will warp.

Alright, I'll probably just let it sit in the sink for a while, since our "hot" water doesn't even come close to boiling.
