Search for "XXXX USB video grabber", where XXXX is the interface (VGA, DVI, HDMI) between your computer and the monitor
You will need quite modern laptop for that, with plenty of fast storage.

yeah, if you buy a hd pvr to send the connection over you shouldn't have much trouble, but if u want a cheaper alternative you can set up a remote connection between the 2 pc's and attempt to record through that.
