Can I upgrade or replace the processor for my Toshiba Satellite C55-A5249 laptop?

-PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!- I am an aspiring producer who is looking for a nice good speed laptop to run FL Studio without the lags and skips. My mom purchased this Toshiba Satellite for me but unfortunately got the wrong model. The processor in this laptop is very slow for the program (being a Intel Celeron CPU 1037U @ 1.80GHz processor). I was wondering for the sake of saving money, If it is possible to upgrade or replace this processor with a faster one?

Technically it is possible to upgrade a laptop processor, however there are a lot of items to consider and it is not a consumer replaceable item... meaning you void the warranty.

Items to consider are max CPU motherboard supports, if you need a better CPU fan, heat generation of the new CPU, who will be performing the work and what happens if you mess up.

You should just return the laptop to the vendor your mother purchased it from.

If you can, it would only be within that same line of CPU. Won't get any real difference.

No problem if you can find same socket or same pin type of your Celeron processor. please visit intel website to find this same socket.

I have been using a hand me down Toshiba Tecra A6 for about 6 years now and there have been many who commented on its slooooowness, mostly attributing it to desktop clutter, even when there was one only folder involved! A friend recently had a look and found 512 MB RAM only, added 2000 MB and now I have a 2.5 GB RAM whizzer that runs as fast as any commercial or Government one. Your problem may not be the processor.

First of all, I have the c55b5100 and FL11 runs perfectly. It's all about the install. Open up FL Studio and go into the settings or preferences option in the pull down menu and change your sound driver from WDM to ASIO. It's damn near unusable if you don't do this. FL Studio ships with ASIO4ALL and it installs when you install FL but you have to set the program to use it. Once you do this, you can increase the buffer and you're golden. If you're not playing real time along side your projects or recording audio, you can max the buffer out. This allows the processing system almost a half second of extra time to process the audio before it spits it out of your speakers.

I used FL back when it was on XP with a 1.2ghz processor and 1 gig of ram and this is how I squeezed every square inch of performance out of it. I know it's a little late but I hope that helps...
