In preparing for the role out of Windows 11 the TPM module I have installed in my computer is 1.2. Is it possible to upgrade that to 2.0?

Thanks

Solution
Windows 11 is a preview release aka beta, so not worth fretting over yet. I personally believe they will allow 7th gen cpus to run Windows 11. It'll be silly to see a based 4.2Ghz not be able to run Windows 11

The motherboard is an
ASUS
Z87-A

How would I determine if a TPM 2.0 compatible module is available?
Currently, any CPU applicable to a Z87 motherboard is NOT applicable to WIn 11.

For your motherboard....many manufacturers are publishing lists of which motherboards are compatible with WIn 11. So far, Gigabyte and Biostar. Probably more to follow.

Lastly...Win 11 is Not Yet Done. Don't change your current hardware to match changing requirements.

Patience.

Z87, Z97 chipsets are up to TPM 1.2 max. you can't put TPM 2.0 module on these mobos... i have Z97 and it going to be e-waste after 2025...
Not e-waste.

I have a Z97 as well.
The CPU on it, i7-4790k, was released in 2014. 11 years is a pretty good lifespan.

And Win 10 won't magically stop running on that date.
And there's always Linux.

you can't play on linux :)
And by 2025, the Z97 and whatever CPU you have will be showing its age, and also not be able to play current games.

People are acting like this never ever happened before.

In 2010, was a PC you bought in 1999 still a viable system, capable of playing the newest games?

Win 7 was released in 2009. Were you able to run that on the same system you bought for Win 98?

If you Have TPM 1.2 module than you have Infinion 9665 chip TPM.
Just 2 different TPM keys exist.
20-1 pin and 16 Pin.
All the same.
I have Gigybyte H81m Mainboard and 4790 Cpu.
I have Buy a TPM 2.0 modul for cheap from Supermicro. 20-1 Pin. ( 9665V )
Inside the M Board header ....not regonized. No Uffi Support for TPM 2 . 0!
Then I Download the Supermicro Flashtool.
I Flash the latest 1.2 Firmware on it.
Disable TPM.. Start Consolle as Admin.
That's the How to.
You can test if your MB can Handle TPM 2.0
You can Flashback if Your Ueffi dozsn, t
Handle TPM 2.0
But you need only lattest 1,2 TPM Firmware on the Infinion 9665 chip.

Start Ueffi.. Enable TPM....
Start Bitlooker..... Encrypt my SSD.
Install Windows 11.
No Hack no Registry bybass. Just enable Dev Channel.
Only Windiws 11 say " Just TPM 1.2 chip".
Windows 11 is a little bit faster on Games. I
Played Doom.
But I wondering why 11 needTPM?
Nothing use it. Nothing!
But you don't need 2.0 if you have TPM 1,2 with lastest Firmware.
The TPM chip ist Infinion Sl 9665.
Supermicro TPM 2.0 flash to 1.2 Latest and Install Win 11 without problems.
Just bitlooker is enable on part "c:".
The Pinout off TPM 2.0 is the same.
Just Firmware on it is different.
TPm 2.0 latest ist. 63. 61 Firmware was Win 10 warning " PLEASE update your TPM Firmware".
Yes it Works.
Buy TPM 2.0 Supetmicro.. Install it on MB header. Flash latest TPM 1,2 Firmware with the How to in the upper link.
Enable Dev Channel.
INSTALL WIN 11.
If you have Hartware TPM 1.2 inside.
I think you only update Firmware to latest 1.2 .
Enabley Dev Channel.. Use Win 11 without any Hacks. 😂🤣
