Can I use 2 gpu's, 1 for ports and 1 for performance?

So I recently picked up a junkyard pc with pretty low specs, but especially the gpu is rubbish. I didn't know that at first, so I picked up a converter cable to use that graphics card. Now I got a card that's quite a bit better, but it uses another port. Could I keep them both and use the better card for performance and the weaker card for the port?
I'm using a 525 watt Dell power supply, which I think should be plenty because of the low-end hardware.
I'm using an intel core 2 quad (don't think it matters but I'll add it anyway).

No, the monitor has to be attached to the card in use, in most cases. Your hardware doesn't meet the SLI or crossfire cases that would allow two cards to be used in tandem.
