Can I use a Lynksis E3000 with an 2Wire router?

I have an old 2Wire router (Home Portal 100) that I currently use with a Lynksis WAP45G access point. I have purchased the Lynksis E3000 router and would like to use it the existing 2Wire router but am not sure 1) if I can use to routers 2) how to configure the E3000 to be an access point without losing any of the advantages of the N protocol or dual band capabilities. Can I use the two routers as I have described and if so how do I configure it so that the two routers don't compete or interfere with each other.
