I've been given an old PC which is composed of an Intel i5 6400 and an nVidia GTX 970 w/4GB DDR5 RAM.
I was wondering if this graphics card can be used with modern CPU's and Motherboards. I am looking at building a new PC, parts yet to be decided upon, but was wondering if old parts like this are able to work with newer components.
I mean, for example, if I got an ITX with the Intel i9 14900K, is it worth using this old card? I'm not really a massive gamer, only play retro games, mostly on emulators, things like Playstation, N64, Dolphin, etc. What I'm wondering is, are these newer processors plenty good enough at graphics, or are there still areas that warrants using this card, if indeed it is still compatible?
Thanks for your advice.
