There are no good fm1 processors, it is a dead platform. If you want to upgrade you need a new motherboard
I really appreciate the help btw. You have no idea how confusing all of this is to me. So my goal is to get a decent setup. Would you mind helping me out with that? Motherboard and processor wise.
My current PC specs are
GPU: Nvidia GTX 550 Ti EVGA (already found an upgrade to buy)
CPU: AMD A6-3670 (need help)
Motherboard Model: GA-A75M-UD2H (need help)
My current budget is any amount really. I just got a job and I have little to no payments.
Switching to Intel would provide you the best performance in most scenarios, including gaming. To utilise an Intel processor, you're going to need to replace your motherboard too. I'd recommend the following upgrade (motherboard + CPU):
The Intel i5 is a quad-core processor, which is ideal for gaming (better than AMD's 8-core offering when it comes to gaming, as Intel provide better performance per core). Tied in with your GTX 980, you should be able to run any game; if you want even more processing power you could even purchase an i7, however the final price will increase of course. The motherboard I've selected is a microATX form factor by the way.
Prices are in United States Dollars (USD) by the way, assuming you're from the United States; if not, please reply and let us know which country you reside in.
You'll have to open your case....but the most important thing is to make sure it's a good quality PSU. Some of Thermaltake's PSUs are paper weight quality.
only way to check if its good is to look at what is on the actual psu, this will require opening your case. If its a poor quality unit you should replace that as well
