Hey guys

My pc is not close to the power outlet so I'm planning on using a surge protector/extension.
So i have this surge protector which supports a total load of 10A. My PC's power plug is rated at 10A and the power supply is 380W. The power supply sticker has the input printed as 100-240V~, 50/60Hz , 5.0A.

Q1- So is it safe for me to go ahead and use my pc on this surge protector?
Q2- And if it's safe to connect the pc to it can i also connect a monitor with a plug rated at 2.5 or 3A to the same surge protector along with the pc?

Assuming it is a quailty surge protector yes 10A is more then enough for what you are running on it.

Monitor draws less then an amp. Usually its:
100 Watts to amps at 120V:0.83 Amps

And I will ask about the make and model surge protector? What actual protection (joules) does the surge protector offer?

FYI:

https://www.tomsguide.com/best-picks/best-surge-protector

Damage from power hits is cumulative and at some point the surge protector will no longer be effective; meaning no more protection.

Protection can be lost to one big hit or multiple smaller hits.

There are some really good online explanations about surge protection and how it all works.

Google "surge protectors" and "joules".

Some of the links will be manufacturers and are going to be a bit biased. However if you read different articles and explanations you will learn more about surge protectors and how they work (or maybe "not work").

Do some additional reading and then revise the search criteria if and as necessary to answer remaining questions.
