Can i use only the 6 pins in a 6x2 PCIE connector?

Greetings. I just got my Gigabyte GTX 970 and i would like to install it in my computer. I found my PSU box in order to get the power cables i need. The card needs 1 8 pin connector and 1 6 pin connector. However, my card came with 6x2 pcie connectors only (multiple ones). I obviously have the 8 pin connector i need but i dont have any 6 pins. Can i just use the 6 pin portion of another one of the wires, and leave the other 2 pins just hanging there? Will it damage my graphics card or my PSU?

Yep, that's what you should do, no it won't damage anything. That's what it's made for!

Yes the cables are designed to split to accommodate either a 6pin or 8pin so you're right to go.
