So im planning to buy a new graphics card. I think im going for the GTX 1050 2GB or 3GB, but i dont know if my ATX 450W P4 PSU is sufficent to run these specs:

Motherboard : P8H61-M LX3 PLUS (LGA1155)
CPU : Intel Core i3 2100 @ 3.10GHz
RAM : 2x4GB DDR3 1333MHz
GPU : GTX 1050 2GB/3GB
HARDDISK : 465GB TOSHIBA (SATA)

Any help is appreciated.

Wow, talk about a dinosaur. With the amperage on the 3.3v and 5v+ rails, that psu was built for AT, way back when everything ran on those rails even the molex fans.

It's deceptive because being that old, the 3.3v and 5v+ rails were included in the wattage totals. Modern pc's use primarily the 12v rail, that psu to be 450w would need to be pushing 35A+, not 16A.

Id not trust that psu in the pc of someone I really didn't like, it's far too easy to overload the 12v rail, and with the guaranteed lack of safety circuitry, it's a firehazard waiting to happen.

No, it will most certainly NOT run a GTX1050, it'll also not even run a GT1030, and would be lucky to get away with running a 20w GT710

I still have a few really old ones here, I wouldn't use them today, just haven't gotten rid of them yet.

Really? You tried them all?I was running a system with a $50 psu for 5 years and i replaced it not because it stopped working, but because i upgraded. My god you buy so much into the hype.

Here is a new thread you need to read, cheap and branded PSU took out a NEW GPU and maybe more.

We see these threads all the time here.

You need to read and learn a lot more and post a lot less.

What does price have to do with anything? There's more than a few decent psus that are $50 or less. For many years one of the most popular psus out there was the XFX TS 550w, a Seasonic OEM unit quite often found for $25 at newegg. Even the Corsair CXM series and TXM Gold can be had for less than $50 and it's decent-good.

Although you can also find Apevia units as high as $100, which I wouldn't buy with your money

I've been building pc's for over 30 years, and like some others, just take it for granted that we are not much different to Farmers insurance, "we've seen it all"...

We say the same thing..Since you are in the building pc business i suppose you saw alot of systems fried from a brand new $100+ psus too.

A few. But it wasn't the price that mattered. It was the psu itself. I've never seen a pc fried with a Quality psu, only junk. You can buy junky psus that are expensive and quality psus that are cheap. Price or size is absolutely no guarantee of any sort of quality in manufacturing or output or safety circuitry.

Right now, a Seasonic Focus Gold 450w is $45 at newegg. You can also buy a 10year old design Corsair CX430 (builder, the old colored, block letter design) for $60. The difference in those 2 psus is huge.

Since iam on search for a new psu (no more than 650w) what do you say about this?My budget is around $100.https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Power/txm-series-2017-config/p/CP-9020132-NA

Power Supply: Corsair - TXM Gold 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($59.98 @ Newegg)
Power Supply: Corsair - RMx (2018) 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($79.99 @ Newegg)

The RMx is one of the single best psus you can get for a gaming psu. Solid platform, super quiet, fantastic output ripple, excellent protections. The TXM Gold is also solid, but not quite as good. If you are pushing a seriously expensive pc, like $1500+, I'd go with the RMx, if a $1000 pc then then the TXM will be ok.

🤣

Thanks everyone for their replies. I think im going for a GTX 750ti instead of an GTX 1050 and that leaves me with enough budget to buy a better psu, so can you recommend me one?

Edit:
I found a Corsair VS550 V2 EU 80+ for 72$. Is it worth it ?
