Hi Guys,

been researching whether to buy a gtx 960 or a gtx 970, and this web has been a great help.
decided to go with gtx 970, so my question is can my system runs gtx 970? i may need to change my psu. any help is greatly appreciated. thank you.

my specs:

intel core i5 4670 3.4 ghz 6mb
msi b85m g 43 motherboard
kingston 8 gb ram
cooler master 311 blue usb 3.0 casing
xigmatex xcp a500 500w psu
asus hd 7770 1gb ddr 5 video card

Your pc seems good but the brand of PSU annoys me. For safety i think you should get a new psu otherwise you are fine.

don't go for a cheap psu, its the heart of your system, it powers everything!!
get a top quality one and you can use it in your future builds, my xfx 850w is in my 4th build
i'm running a msi 970 on a 3440x1440 screen..oc'd to 1460mhz 55-60fps and I love it, best gpu I have owned runs very quite and cool

your system is good but tell me what is the psu what is the brand is it 80+?
you could run a 960 for sure and you could do a 970 but i would recommend a better psu before or during the upgrade

personally!! I would go for a good quality 750w (hell it would power a 980ti)loads of expansion room for gpu, cpu upgrades, uv and led case lights or water loops, fans, sound cards any thing you want bit by bit, when the budget allows..sorted..no more worries about power supplies, just plug n play lol, and they are cheap compared to graphics cards...buy a good quality one..once
Please take note as every one is saying a psu upgrade is advised , don't know anything about your psu.. but by the reaction of other posts ...it ain't a good un
any gtx 970 will play anything at 1080p easy
