I bought the K8N-E Deluxe, that has socket 754 from a discount section of local store with only 1 month warranty, meaning something is not really perfect. Now, I can press F1 to enter Setup to select boot priority but after that when the computer restart after F10, there is nothing on screen. After that I have to clear CMOS so that there is screen again.

What is wrong or simply that I was bad luck for my thrifting decision.

Regards.

Lots of places only give you 30 days to return an item. I would check with asus about an rma (usually takes 2-3 weeks) if you can't fix your problem. But first, read the first faq in this section. Also, check your ide settings for raid and sata, as well as memory timings. I would try just one stick, and use manual settings (not spd) using 2T (command rate) and the highest numerical timings (such as 4-4-8) on the menu. Also, be sure your case speaker is connected to the board properly so you can hear some beep codes.

Can you get it to boot to floppy? What are you trying to boot to? Try taking out the optical, and hdds, and booting to floppy. If that doesn't work, take the floppy out. See if it will at lest get to the no system screen.
It is also important with that mobo to put the memory in the slot closest to the chip.

In the shop I often buy, the discout section includes all repackaged items from the technician's handlings, menaing something is not "as normal".

I just use IDE hard disk and there is nothing particular of DRAM that I know excep the speed and I have not got any problem relating to good RAM so I do not think the problem is that.
Things after speaker is connected as followed:
1) First, there is ONE beep and saying that I need F1 to run set up.After F1, there are 2 beeps.
2) Either after I set the boot priorities to CD-ROM or hard disk, the machine restart and there is NO beep and no screen.

After this crash, I have to clear CMOS so that I can repeat the step 1.I use one RAM stick

It is just to give more info for this forum. The problem was that the BIOS can not record the change made with F1.It is BIOS problem and after flashing BIOS, the machine works fine.
