Can only use 4gb of ram

Please before you tell me to go into the msconfig and change the setting i have already tried that

So i have 8gb of ram it is supported with my motherboard but i only can use 4gb MOST OF THE TIME, sometimes it will launch with 8gb of ram though, i have already tried switching the ram slots around and nothing is working

Have you verified that BIOS is indeed recognizing all 8 GB of RAM every time the machine is booted?

Are you running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows?

Do you have on-board or integrated graphics using a portion of the RAM for it's own purposes?

Do you have an option for memory remapping in BIOS, and is it enabled?

When you have all 8GB showing I would run memtest86 and see if you get any errors.

so the BIOS is reconizing all the RAM but windows doesn't? ya, i would double check to make sure you have 64-bit windows installed. either that or your CPU might be old enough that it isn't 64-bit

no windows sees it, but it just reserves 4gb most of the time

What is your full system spec? include the exact model of the ram

I just looked on their website and it's 40 dollars to dowload it. i could literally just buy new ram for cheaper than that
