Can RJ11 to RJ45 cable be used to get internet from phone wall jack with internet phone service?

Hello. I have a dual function modem for both internet and internet phone service. The problem is that the modem is all the way across the house and the wiring in the walls is a little too old for the powerline adapters to process the signals fully. I was wondering, if I use a straight RJ11 to RJ45 cord from the phone jack on this side of the house and plug the ethernet side into say my computer, would I be able to receive internet signal that way?

Your modem is necessary for your internet connection. There's even the chance that that the phone jack on that side of the house isn't even usable for internet.

However, as far as the internet goes, your ISP will be using PPPoE, or MAC address authentication (or some other authentication), which is necessary for you to be able to connect.

Another modem wouldn't work either, as your ISP is only providing you 1 IP address (most likely).

This being the case, you're best chance is to set up a switch and run Ethernet outside or under the house if a wired connection is the only way for you to go. Otherwise you could look at a powerful router (or a combination with some wireless extenders).

Yeah, I figured it was a long shot and figured the later option would be the way I would have to go. I was glad to get some good advice on the situation. I appreciate your input and thank you for responding in a timely manner. This was my first time using this website and you made it a good impression for it.
