Dang...Only if Dell included the microcode. If the latest BIOS is 2018, there's not much to do really. It doesn't hurt to check, of course, but Dell motherboards are typically custom jobs, not off-the-shelf.
Well, I went to the manufacturer’s website and tried to update my bios but i’m already up to date with the bios 1.3.7 which was in 2018You are supposed to update the motherboard's bios using the older chip.
Dell desktops tend to be closed systems - while on most systems you could drop that CPU in after a BIOS update and be laughing. Dell controls the BIOS completely - they would not allow you to simply upgrade and subvert the planned obsolescence.I installed ryzen 5 3600 into my pc from a ryzen 5 1400 but once I installed the r5 3600 my pc wouldn’t turn on
Then you are boned. Dell has locked that option out.Well, I went to the manufacturer’s website and tried to update my bios but i’m already up to date with the bios 1.3.7 which was in 2018
That just made my life so hard. I pretty much put 200 dollars down the drain. Then you are boned. Dell has locked that option out.

Even though the cpu is bios restricted by Dell, if the OP's mobo is actually a mainstream model, wouldn't a bios update from the vendor's site work?If you can't return it, you ought to be able to sell it for most of the price. It's worth more than $0 certainly.
