A classic SSD issue, with a twist?
I've looked at a lot of threads for "bios can see ssd but os can't" however I'm experiencing the reverse.
My Kingston HyperX SSD (running the OS) is no longer recognized by BIOS. I can't select it as a boot device, or see it listed anywhere. However after booting to windows from a USB I am able to see the drive listed among my other drives in CMD. It shows the drive's correct name and correct storage capacity. So the OS is seeing the drive, but BIOS isn't. BIOS is correctly showing my other drives (cd, hdd, etc).
I'm not sure where to go from here. I've ordered another ssd but I'd like to save this one if I can. Is the drive dead? Are there other steps I can take?
I have:
Tried the ssd in another sata port with no detection
Checked that the original sata port is running by successfully running a different drive on that port
Swapped cables (power/sata) to ensure it isn't a cable issue
Sata is in ahci
Unfortunately I don't have access to another system to plug the SSD into for other testing.
Please let me know any thoughts you may have on this,
Thank you!
Edit:
I am running Windows 10.
The SSD in question was successfully running for almost 2 years as the OS drive. I was using the computer in the evening, shut down, and when I booted the next morning this issue started.
