Hi. I received a BSOD last night while doing a full Windows Defender virus scan. I would like some help determining what caused it so I can fix the issue. I am using an Asus TUF FX507VI-F15.I74070 laptop.
I have included a Dropbox link to the V2 log collector file and the Bugcheck Analysis. Thanks!

It's tricky making a diagnosis based on one dump, but this one is quite clear cut. The bugcheck is a 0x9F DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE, that indicates that a device or its driver failed to complete a power transition (from idle low-power to running high-power) in a reasonable time.

The cause is either a flaky driver or a flaky card.

The dump data contains the address of the IRP that was managing the power transition, from that we can see the name of the driver that was in control. Here's part of that structure...
Rich (BB code):

The driver at the bottom there, nvlddmkm.sys, is the one that's hung. This is your Nvidia graphics driver and the version you have installed is old, dating from June of this year...

    Information from resource tables:
The latest game ready driver for your 4070 is 722.84, dated November 12th 2024. In the first instance I suggest you download and install this latest version. Be sure to check the 'perform a clean install' box.

From the dump we can also determine the address of the device node, this describes the actual device that was failing to complete a power transition. Here's part of that structure...
Code:
4: kd> !devnode ffff880f6d4f2a20
DevNode 0xffff880f6d4f2a20 for PDO 0xffff880f6d4f0570
  Parent 0xffff880f6d3ecb60 Sibling 0xffff880f6c2e2050 Child 0000000000
  InstancePath is "PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_2860&SUBSYS_250D1043&REV_A1\4&1355e4b4&0&0008"
  ServiceName is "nvlddmkm"
  TargetDeviceNotify List - f 0xffffd80132976190 b 0xffffd80132976190

The InstancePath entry contains the hardware IDs of the actual device (PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_2860) If you look these up you'll se they are for your RTX 4070 (mobile) graphics card. That's confirmation that the power transition problem was graphics card/driver related.

BTW. If the latest driver from Nvidia also gives 0x9F bugchecks then visit the Asus driver website for your laptop and download and install the latest Nvidia driver from there. Some laptop vendors customise the graphics driver for power or operational reasons and the generic drivers from Nvidia may not contain those customisations. See whether the Asus driver is more stable.
