I'm building a mini-ITX soon using the Gigabyte H310N LGA1151 motherboard (rev 1.0). In addition to having a PCIe x16 port and an M.2 NVME port, it also has a M.2 wifi board, specs listed as M.2 Socket 1 for Intel CNVI or PCIe WiFi cards. I haven't really been able to find much info about using M.2 wifi slots for other stuff like SSDs. In the motherboard pictures it looks like a PCIe x1 slot but I really can't tell if there's a difference and M2_Wifi is for something else completely.

So my question is can these slots be used for other stuff? Are there any adapters for M.2 SSDs to be used in these wifi slots?

Solution
I think it only runs at x1 speed.

This isn't your board but another Gigabyte and the answer suggests its not a good choice for ssd - https://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php?topic=19258.0

m.2 ssd also have different keys, you can't plug one into the slot - link
WIFI slots have A or E keys
ssd use either B or M keys
they just don't fit.

Socket is for either 1 x M.2 Socket 1 connector for an Intel CNVi or a PCIe wireless module (M2_WIFI)
CNVI appears to be Wi-Fi built into CPU - https://www.intel.com.au/content/www/au/en/support/articles/000026155/network-and-i-o/wireless.html
