Question Can the PG279QZ (gsync) support freesync with an AMD card?

I'm thinking of switching over to AMD and wondering if I can use freesync with the PG279QZ. I know that newer gsync monitors can, however I can't find anything online suggesting that the PG279QZ is one of these newer models. Someone told me that it's just a software thing and any monitor with VRR capability supports freesync, but I don't know if they're just misinformed or I am.

Otherwise, is it worth spending the extra for a 5070ti instead if it means sticking with gsync, or are there any alternative monitors I can get with the money saved buying a 9070 xt that are comparable to the PG279Q?

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Your display has adaptive sync support, you merely need to enable FreeSync on your AMD's control panel/Adrenaline app as well the OSD for the display and you should be good to go. That's what my educated guess is telling me.

I would opt for the RTX5070Ti if the 9070's reviews aren't favorable and AMD don't open up FreeSync support via a driver update(like Nvidia did).

Hi, thank you. I looked in my monitor's OSD and I don't see any option for freesync (or anything to do with gsync/VRR). I've looked online and saw a bunch of people saying that the PG279Q doesn't support VRR with an AMD card. Is there anyway to check for certain it has freesync support while I still have an Nvidia card?
