[SOLVED] Can this budget build be any better?

Greetings folks,
I am using the Toms 1k budget PC guide to build a gaming CPU until I can afford the 4080ti series cards and the proper parts to go with it in a couple of years

Are there any current improvements or cheaper options currently? Due to a string of bad luck, I'm kinda strapped for cash.

Just in case your not aware, there are new CPU's from Intel (October) and AMD (announced 29th of August) releasing over the next couple of months. If you were to wait you might get something more powerful or the older stuff cheaper.

In terms of the build, it's a pretty nice little machine. If it were me I'd prefer a better board, something like:

You could swap the 970 Evo for a Samsung 980 instead and spend a little bit more on the board:

The case you have there is fine, but it's not very good for AIO liquid coolers as you can only mount them in the front. If you think you might want an AIO with a more powerful CPU at a later date then I would look at something else. Other than that I quite like the look of the H510.

I do note though you say you only want this machine for 1.5 to 2 years so it might not be worth the above. May I ask what games you play and at what refresh rate, just curious why you want the 4080 Ti?

I play games like rdr2 and gta 5 and woukd like to play these type of games on max when rdr3 and gta6 come out. I may wait 3 years to upgrade. Depending on funds. Rear ended at 100km and a contractor take me for a large chunk of cash and running away I'm kinda broke the next few years and won't be able to build the PC of my dreams for a few .

Yes I was just thinking that, you may have to wait a while for the 4060 and then people might scalp them and what have you. Last time Intel's CPU's launched in October, the high end K chips and boards were available but the mid level and lower end parts were not available until early the following year, I think it was January.

I'm guessing you probably don't want to wait 6 months, what I would say though, we are nearly at the end of August, on the 29th AMD announce their new CPU's. You should then get an idea of when the whole line will become available to buy and at what sort of price. From that perhaps make an educated guess on whether it's worth waiting any longer.
