Can this monitor run 144hz with HDMI?

I plan to get this monitor and just a simple question, if I connect it to my GTX 1060 via HDMI can I achieve 144Hz?

No, it will require a DVI-D or a Displayport cable to achieve 144hz. I have this exact monitor with a GTX 970 and i use Displayport.

Display port is definitely the ideal choice, the quality is crisp and the response time on the monitor feels great.

DisplayPort can handle higher bandwidth than HDMI for use of high refresh rates but need to be careful with the cable you buy though. Despite what you may read, there is no such thing as a DisplayPort 1.1 cable and DisplayPort 1.2 cable.
