Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I couldn't find an answer to this question.

Precision Boost and XFR for the Ryzen 5 1600 CPU are firmware? So couldn't they just be updated to later versions?

Thanks.

On first gen, XFR was a feature unique to the 'X' CPU's. So I can't imagine XFR2 being available to a 1600.

And besides, boosting on first gen was (at best) anemic. But since almost any first gen processor could be overclocked to it's maximum boost clock and frequently 100-200Mhz beyond that was generally the better option.
