Can you put 2x different gb ram

Is one stick of 6gb ram plus 4gb the same speed as one stick of same gb ram?Or is different gb ram sticks put together slower than the one of the same? thanks in advance

please clarify what you are trying to do

The DRAM runs at a specified freq/data rate - adding more DRAM doesn't increase the speed of the sticks, though by running 2 vs 1 stick in dual channel mode you can increase performance by up to 10+ % from being in dual channel - running at 128bit vs 64bit. the two laptops im looking at come with 6gb of ram and the other laptop comes with 8gb of ram i will be adding a 4gb stick to the laptop i am buying.so its going to be 8gb+4 or 6gb+4.my question is for example will two sticks of 6gb and 4gb have the same fps in games as a 4gb and a 4gb sticks?

If it has 6GB it's probably a 4 GB stick and a 2GB and possibly one of the sticks might even be soldered in

ur memory has nothing to do with ur fps.
but u atleast need 8gig.
