[SOLVED] Can you use a Lower Resolution Monitor than your PC resolution

So , I sold my 900p monitor and bought a 1280x1024 Dell Monitor but I forgot that my pc resolution is still set on 900p , so , will the pc resolution adapt to the monitor resolution (1280×1024) ?

If the pc would not set to that new resolution you can always change on display settings , the display best resolution is ussually the recommended by the system .

I suspect that W10 will reset itself to the screen rez of the new monitor, or its default rez, whichever fits the screen best. But as Rui Neves states, it is easy to fix by right-clicking on the desktop and choosing Display Settings.

Yeah,unless his monitor stays blank with an out of range message but that's pretty rare.

Yeah, that might happen with the older analog (VGA) connection. On today's displays connecting via digital interfaces tho, I suspect he'll be OK. But, good point.
