I want to buy another 1TB drive and my current motherboard (Asrock B450M Pro4-F) supports only SATA M.2 drives in the additional slot.
I want to buy something I'll be able to carry over when I upgrade in 3-4 years time.
I had a look at some of the new AM5 B650 motherboards like the Gigabyte B650M D3HP for example but it doesn't specify if it's NVME or SATA or if it can do both? In my mobo manual it specifically says it's only SATA m.2 drives it can use in the 2nd slot.
For example:

Storage Interface 1 x M.2 connector (M2A_CPU), integrated in the CPU, supporting Socket 3,
M key, type 2580 SSDs:
AMD Ryzen™ 7000 Series Processors support PCIe 4.0 x4/x2 SSDs
AMD Ryzen™ 8000 Series-Phoenix 1 Processors support PCIe 4.0 x4/x2 SSDs
AMD Ryzen™ 8000 Series-Phoenix 2 Processors support PCIe 4.0 x4/x2 SSDs
1 x M.2 connector (M2C_SB), integrated in the Chipset, supporting Socket 3,
M key, type 22110/2280 PCIe 4.0 x4/x2 SSDs
Whereas mine says:
- 1 x Ultra M.2 Socket (M2_1), supports M Key type 2242/2260/2280 M.2 PCI Express module up to Gen3 x4 (32 Gb/s) (with Vermeer, Matisse, Cezanne, Renoir, Picasso, Summit Ridge, Raven Ridge and Pinnacle Ridge) or Gen3 x2 (16 Gb/s) (with Athlon series APU)**
- 1 x M.2 Socket (M2_2), supports M Key type 2230/2242/2260/2280 M.2 SATA3 6.0 Gb/s module
I'm not looking for motherboard specifically but I'd rather get an m.2 drive instead of a conventional SATA hdd for having less cables etc.
I mean I could buy the SATA HDD one but I'd rather not have a cable to hide..
