[SOLVED] Cannot change refresh

I go into the advanced graphics settings and go to change my monitor refresh rate, but the only one available is 60 Hz.

Monitor : Acer GN276HL connected with dual dvi w/ DVI to Display Port adapter connected from the PC

Any help would be appreciated!

The adapter you are using may only support 60hz

I recently got a new computer and it only comes with 3 display ports and 1 HDMI port. My 144 Hz monitor (acer GN276HL ) only has HDMI, dvi, and vga. So I bought a HDMI chord and plugged them in (amazon basics high speed HDMI) but it will not let me change the refresh rate to 144. Is there any way this monitor will work at 144 or do I need a new monitor or a new cable or what? Thanks in advance!

from the monitor manual, it need dual link DVI cable
