I've replacedI have a 1Tb iomega home media storage device that I usually access from my macbook running leopard os. Recently I have not been able to access my network hard drive even though it is showing as a device on home network hardware. If I click configure from the program it pulls up safari, but says it is unable to connect. Safari is showing the proper IP address to access it through my home network. My router interface shows that the drive is communicating with the router as well. This doesn't make sense and I can't find anything related to my issue anywhere. I've replaced the Ethernet cable, checked firewall settings, and tried static IP settings for the device. The status light on the device glows white showering it's ready and communicates. The reset button on the device seems to function properly but hasn't restored access. Please help! Thanks!

The router is showing them on the same network, also confirmed by the IP addresses.

I checked the dns settings for my network on my Mac and the router's IP address is listed under dns servers.

I just performed the ping using mac terminal, and the device is responding according to the text. Thanks for your ideas so far!

It does not show up in Bonjour in safari. It does show up on the drop down menu for the home network interfaces program downloaded from Iomega as a device to be configured. When I click on it, safari opens and it says Cannot connect to server.

The web portal is not resolving.

Mac has nslookup as well; run nslookup and the ip. See if the proper name is resolved. Try a different browser (safari sucks), try the IP and the units name in the browser.

If it is, there's an issue loading the webportal. See if there is a software package that lets you modify the NAS.

If I'm using the nslookup correctly, which I'm fairly sure I am, the proper name of the device is resolving. I tried to enter the IP, the device name, and the device name and IP, with no luck. So I guess I'm liking for possible software to modify the NAS now. No luck so far but will keep looking. I'm also going to try to give support a call tomorrow to see if anything is available. I'll post back if I find anything.

Let me know if you have any possible leads. Thanks again!

I am only really familiar with QNAPs as a NAS.

What's the specific make and model, just so we can research the expected behaviour?

I'm not sure if it even has a web portal.

I would follow this with the iOmega IP and see if it creates a mapped drive.

Edit: And/Or post the errors.

For the webaddress try the IP followed by :80 :8080 or :443
192.168.1.201:443
for example. It might be encrypted HTTPS on 442. You can also try HTTPS:\\IOMEGANAME

I followed the instructions on the link you gave and tried all of the extensions and name separately. The error code I received on each was (error code -36)
The make is iomega- home network storage device and the model MHNDHD.
