Question Cannot enable Intel TurboBoost - Computer freezes (Dell G5 5000 ) i7-10700F)

Hi folks, I bought at Dell G 5000 during the pandemic and modded it to improve its cooling. It has run fine for the last 3 years, and suddenly it began freezing for no reason. After troubleshooting the only thing that allowed me to boot into windows and continue using it was to disable turbo boost. It runs fine now but still freezes at time, but turbo boost is off.

Any suggestions or thoughts on what to do to fix this?

Have you checked what temps its running at and/or did maintenance on the cooling system? You might also need to replace the thermal paste.

Sorry I should have added that I opened it up and re did the thermal paste. For now its running around 40c, but as soon as I enable turbo boost it freezes as soon as windows loads, I can't even test the temps.

The only time I've seen this happen is if there is a power delivery issue (or an undervolt gone too far). But to make sure it's not Windows, you could try booting into a live Linux distro using Linux Mint or Ubuntu.
