Hello,

I have bought a Barton 2500+ and it won't fit in the socket of my KT3
Ultra ARU ! There are small pin differences and I cannot use my new
CPU ! It's now useless...
Does someone know if there are different board revisions ? Maybe the
earlier ones don't support the Barton ?

Thanks !

Stephane

ps: can you please send a copy of the answer to my email address

Huh? No way, the Barton 2500+ is socket A (462), and so it that mobo, it
*has* to fit! Socket A is Socket A! Something else going on here,
remember, the processor only fits one way, it's keyed to make sure you
install it correctly. Make sure you don't have any bent pins! Also, make
sure there is nothing blocking any of the holes on the ZIF socket. Also,
make sure the ZIF lever is all the way up before insertion. Sometimes there
can be a little resistance to insertion (should be zero, but on a rare
ocassion, it takes a little "shimmy" to make it fit). Or else you simply
*don't* have a Barton Athlon XP, maybe an AMD 64???

Thanks Jim !

I think I have a bent pin... At least I have been able to detect a
slightly bent pin in one of the corners. I didn't pay attention to
this kind of details (I should have) ...
