Hi. I've become very frustrated with Freesync. Maybe its because it's a new technology that I'm not familiar with. But it looks like there has been some confusion ...
"As for situations where the GPU render rate goes above the maximum refresh rate of a monitor, or dips under the minimum refresh rate, there has been some confusion as to how G-Sync and FreeSync handle these cases."
Vsync can be on or off with Freesync ...
"AMD's implementation differs slightly in that you can choose to have v-sync enabled or disabled in situations where render rate goes above or below the variable refresh window."

My monitor ( ViewSonic® VX2257-mhd ) has a range of 47 to 75hz for Freesync. So I've had the windows monitor settings set to 75hz. At first I thought things were working, partly because at high frame rates it's fairly difficult to spot tearing. But I found running around and stepping left and right around lamposts with a clear background (the sky) usually shows signs of ample tearing. This is in Just Cause 2 and Mad Max as well as other games. Freesync is on in the AMD Radeon Settings. Both Freesync and Displayport 1.2 are on at the monitor end.
ADM Windmill demo ( https://community.amd.com/thread/180553 ); I can see Freesync turning on and off @60fps (with windows monitor settings @ 75hz) with the Test Pattern (red bar moving across screen) but with the windmill model showing I can see tearing.
What is going on here ? It seems that whatever I fiddle with I can never get Freesync working. It seems strange that the red bar test pattern works in Windmill but the graphics never does. So I'm having to resort to Vsync all the time with a monitor I bought specifically for Freesync.
