System:
Asus z690 Maximus Formula (VRM cooling uninstalled)
DDR5 Corsair Platinum Dominator 16gb 5.6mhz x2
EVGA GeForce Rtx 3080Ti 12gb
Samsung Pro 980 and 990 2TB SSDs
i9 13k900 CPU

I had a full Windows system installed on this before. Before I got stuck on the freeze boot loop situation, I did multiple checks of the RAM, and the SSDs. Also did again through the Bios with the longest options and all passed.

I get a freeze screen from it and a series of BSOD screens. Some point to Wymfsf.sys, or Cl.dll, and 0x0000024a error.

A bit more about it:
I had a full system installed on it before and was experiencing some frame drops and some BSOD before, I activated the Intel Fail Safe option from the SVID in the Bios and it improved, but after using CCleaner to adjust things, a few days later the situation got severely worse and I got stuck in a loop of the PC getting stuck after boot with error A0, and after cleaning up the SSDs, I still cannot reinstall Windows.

All the hardware has been thoroughly tested. Multiple times.

I remember that when I installed Windows back in 2022, I ran into a similar issue, and had to go on a hunt for a different configuration for the mobo because of the DDR5 memories.

I have updated to the version 3401 of the mobo that was released last month, which was supposed to increase the compatibility of the DDR5 memories, but I still get a frozen screen, and the BSODs, even after the SSDs have been wiped.

Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you are my only hope. Please and thank you

What does that mean?
You removed VRMs from motherboard? (Voltage Regulator Modules)
DDR5 Corsair Platinum Dominator 12gb 5.6mhz x2
Can you provide link to the product?
I don't think, there exist 12GB Corsair Platinum Dominator modules.

I have updated to the version 3104 of the mobo that was released last month
3104? Did you mean 3401 ?

The memory is 16gb, gonna fix the original post.
The VRM I refer to is the physical space for liquid cooling to cool the motherboard. The motherboard is fine, I uninstalled it because it has been a recall on them due to galvanic corrosion. I checked mine, and followed Asus recommendation to uninstall it until I substitute mine

So - you removed VRM heatsinks without replacing them with anything?
Why would that be ok? It will certainly cause VRM overheating.

Do you even have custom liquid cooling in your pc?
If you don't have it, then there's no risk of corrosion.

Heatsinks without liquid cooling is certainly better, than no heatsinks at all.

I would appreciate if you remain on the topic. Thanks.

Make it smaller.
Remove the gpu and connect to the igp.
One stick of ram in the proper slot.
Only the disk you want to install to connected.

Thank you. I may try this. I wish I could remember what I did last time, but has been well over a year since I got this installed and I remember it took significant research and testing as well. Sucks that it seems that I will likely have to remove and clean all of the water cooling again though. 🙃

I think I had the GPU last time but not the extra SSD, so I may try removing the stick RAM first, and the SSD, since that won’t touch the custom cooling system.

Another option.....put a fresh copy of the w10 installer on a different flash stick.

Mmm gotta try this first, I’m almost certain it’s not the USB, I remember this setup being the hardest Windows installation I have ever done and I wish I had documented it then so I could redo it easier. But I guess creating another media is worth the try. Thanks!

Tried removing one RAM, leaving the A2 position (the first slot according to documentation) and no dice.
Removed then the M2 SSD, and no dice.
Removed the GPU and no dice.

The errors are the same:

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION
KMODE_HANDLED_EXCEPTION
KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK__FAILURE
0xc000021a

I’m almost certain that when I installed Windows 10 in 2022, I had all the parts in but the M2 SSD, it was a Bios config that finally got it done. Similar issues happened then.

Well you know somethings it's not as for the bios sorry can't help in that area.

One thing that I find strange is, if I cleared the SSD why is it throwing Windows errors and BSODs? It’s like the memory didn’t reset at all. I remember that at the time the main difficulty as well was displaying the SSDs on the Bios (it wouldn’t recognize because they were knew).

Some memory reset is missing, let me reset the battery or disconnect all cables first since resetting the CMOS in this mobo is a bit more labor intensive.

Reinstall vrm cooling.
If that is not an option, then get a new motherboard.
It’s a CrossChill VRM, I will get a refund on this, or another one since they are recalled due to the VRM being garbage but I still want to have a computer on the meantime, so I appreciate if you can focus on actually helping with what I need.

All the hardware is working. Has been working for two years. It has been thoroughly tested multiple times. But Windows keeps existing on the SSDs even after being cleared up. How do I make sure my mobo understands this? The CMOS has been reset.

PSU: Make, model, wattage, age, condition (original to build, new, refurbished, used)?

History of heavy use for gaming, video editing, or even bit-mining?
It’s not a hardware issue, it’s a software issue. I have had Windows installed on this for more than a year, started having software problems when I used CCleaner to adjust stuff because the main game I play is a bit at odds with the 13k CPU according to the company that makes the game. What I need help with at the moment is the fact that the SSDs have been cleared up, and when I try to install Windows again, it gives BSODs related to the faulty drivers that were on the machine in the first place.

So yes, it’s mostly a gaming machine.

The PSU is a 1k one, EVGA Supernova, I got it new for this PC

Four things to try:

1) Run the built-in Windows troubleshooters. The troubleshooters may find and fix something.

2) Run "dism"

https://www.windowscentral.com/how-use-dism-command-line-utility-repair-windows-10-image

3) Run "sfc /scannow"

https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-use-sfc-scannow-to-repair-windows-system-files-2626161

4) Look in Reliability History/Monitor and Event Viewer.

Objective is to find specific error code numbers.
I don’t have access to Windows on that machine any longer. All the BSODs I get are related to driver issues.

0xc000021a
NON_DEFAULT_PAGE
SYSTEM_EXCEPTION
SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE

Are the main ones, if I’m not mistaken

Well if you no longer have access to Windows on that machine then we cannot help with regards to the BSODs. Or anything else on that machine for that matter.

Who does have access (meaning admin rights) to the machine? That person should be addressing the BSOD's for whatever reasons the BSODs are occuring.

Seems that this thread is now moot and should therefore be closed.

Closing thread.
