cannot log into my desktop

Every time i try to log in to my desktop, it just goes to the welcome screen and right after it just says logging off. I have the windows disk i can access the bios but i cannot log in.

When the computer reports 'logging off' after logging on, does it just return to the login screen or does it restart? If you leave it alone, does it just run in an endless loop of login/logoff?

If you have the windows disk, you can boot to the DVD and choose windows repair and follow the startup repair prompts.
