When I press the Windows key and the G key together to bring up the Game DVR menu, I cannot record. Pressing it says that I do not meet the system requirements to record, which is bull because I do, according to Microsoft's listed system requirements.
My specs: AMD Radeon HD 7660G APU graphics with 512MB dedicated VRAM and AMD Radeon HD 7670M with 2GB dedicated VRAM
I figured that it might have something to do with CrossFire being enabled, so I disabled it (also so I could have access to the other 1.5GB of my video memory), but that did nothing. It might have something to do with my graphics processor being listed as "AMD Radeon HD 7660G + HD 7600M Dual Graphics" everywhere (That's how Mass Effect 2 identifies it), and it also reads 512MB of dedicated video memory which is what the 7660G has. I have set the Catalyst Control Centre to disable the dual graphics while setting various applications like my games and the Xbox App for Windows 10 to use the High Performance graphics setting in the CCC, but I still cannot use the recording option.
I think that because of my GPU being listed only as the AMD Radeon HD 7660G + HD 7600M Dual Graphics, I can't use the recording options of the Game DVR in the Xbox App. My laptop fully meets the system requirements to use it. Its graphics solution is superior to the Intel HD 4000 graphics and even that's supported. I would like to use the built-in recording utility, I really don't want to have to rely on 3rd party recorders as those often aren't exactly what I would like. Can anyone help me?
EDIT: I just discovered something: I went into the AMD Catalyst Control Centre and set the Mass Effect 2 configuration utility to use the high performance graphics setting. It changed from AMD Radeon HD 7660G + HD 7600M Dual Graphics to simply AMD Radeon HD 7660G - the APU graphics.
EDIT 2: The Radeon HD 7660G is listed as the primary graphics adapter, and the Radeon HD 7670M is listed as the linked adapter. I want it as the primary adapter, I'm sure if it was set as such this problem would go away.
EDIT 3: I just read somewhere that the dedicated GPU is not directly connected to the display in my laptop, only connected to the APU, and that it's not possible to use only the dedicated GPU while disabling the APU graphics. Is this true? (Other sites that cover a similar question don't say the same thing, so if that's the case that's a pretty stupid design and I made a mistake buying this laptop) And if so, is it possible to trick the Xbox App into realizing that I technically do meet the requirements?
I'm not sure if that's really too applicable to me. All I really want is for the 7670M to do the heavy lifting while the 7660G doesn't, perhaps convincing the Xbox App that my system really does support it.
