Question Cannot set resolution beyond 60Hz

Hi,

I got a Samsung Odyssey G7 28" monitor (LS28AG700N) which has 2 x HDMI 2.1 ports and 1 x DP 1.4

My graphics card is 2080Ti

I have an HDMI cable with 48Gbps bandwidth that supports "8k@60Hz, 4k@144Hz, ..."

The monitor refresh rate is set to 144Hz

But when I go to the Windows 11 display setting, I cannot set the refresh rate beyond 60Hz when the resolution is 4k, the higher options do not show.

If I set the resolution to eg. 1080p, higher refresh rate options appear.

If I use a display port 1.4 cable, I can get higher refresh rate settings @4k.

Could someone help me figure out why I cannot get 4k >60Hz with an HDMI cable? My display port cable is a bit faulty and shows artefacts on the screen when used. I'd rather not buy a new DP cable if I could just change some settings and get the HDMI cable to work.

I think I figured it out, the 2080Ti GPU has HDMI 2.0 port, which only supports up to 18Gbps bandwidth. Guess it's time to buy a new DP cable lol.
