Hello,
I have a dual boot laptop with with Windows and Ubuntu on separate partitions. I've now run into a problem with Windows being unresponsive except for a error message I get stating the 'wbemcore.log is corrupt - run chkdsk'. Well I can't access Safe Mode to run chkdsk since my only choices are Windows XP Media Center Edition and Ubuntu. How can I proceed?

Use your win cd and put it to boot from the bios.
Go the recovery console, (press R) and select your Windows installation(usually 1) and enter your password( if you don't have one just press enter)
On the command prompt screen type cd C:\
then type chkdsk /F . It should do a scan. Good luck! :hello:

I dug up a System Recovery DVD (MS Windows XP Media Center Edt. 2005) disk. Can I use this or will it wipe my hard drive clean? The DVD states "installing this disc will return your computer's hard disk drive to its original software configuration."
