Hello everyone :)

I used to be able to boot perfectly when I had my Intel Core i3-4130 CPU, everytime I'd start up the computer it'd make a beep noise which I'm assuming is the POSTS sound meaning everything is good. I decided to upgrade and bought the Intel Core i5-4690, when I put it in and start-up the computer I hear no POSTs sound or the beep that happens when I start-up which means something is wrong. I can't even get into the bios.

I've updated my BIOS to the latest version, reapplied thermal paste, made sure all wires are plugged in, checked that the CPU is not in faulty condition, cleaned out dust, I returned the i5-4690 and got the i5-4590 because I thought it was just faulty but the same thing happens with thr i5-4590. After trying those two i5s I put the i3-4130 back in and it boots up perfectly fine.

Please someone help is it just a coincidence that I bought two faulty CPUs or am I doing something wrong ?

Thank you for reading and your help

Here's my Specs if it helps

Go to the motherboard's manufacturer's website.

Find the applicable motherboard User Guide/Manual.

I found the following link:

https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1150/H87-PRO/E8223_H87_PRO.pdf

Do verify that the link is correct for your motherboard.

Verify that the motherboard does indeed support the i5 CPUs. There will likely be some additional information on the website that will provide details regarding supported CPUs. Also check the website's Forums and FAQ's.

If the CPU is supported then follow the User Guide/Manual to carefully reinstall the CPU and to double check all other connections and configurations.

Install a new CMOS battery just as a matter of elimination.

I found that both of the i5 CPUS are compatible with my motherboard. I went through the installation guide and I've done it exactly how it shows in the manual (Except in the manual it shows a PnP cap but that is always removed after installing the CPU. So doesn't matter )

I am not sure what else to do

Where did you find (the source) that the i5 CPUS are compatible with the motherboard?

I think some verification is necessary.

Looking for other ideas and suggestions.

I found them on the official Asus website ⬇
Click on "CPU/Memory Support" and it shows all the supported CPU'S
