[SOLVED] Can't boot to windows after installing m.2 drive

I'm using MSI MPG Z490 motherboard with Samsung 860 EVO Sata SSD as a Windows 10 boot drive (plus several other drives for storage) without problem.

Recently bought a Samsung 970 EVO PLUS M.2 drive. Which after installing and opening the pc always throws me to the BIOS screen. Although every physical drive installed including M.2 seems to be detected they don't show up in boot priority list. Even Settings>Boot does not show the settings for drive priority while M.2 drive is installed.

Removing the M.2 drive from the system solves this problem and Settings>Boot now shows the drive list prioritization option.

Do I have to change some settings in order to boot with M.2 or do I have some faulty hardware?

With certain motherboards....SATA ports get disabled when you use an M2.

With your motherboard.....the manual says this...

"
SATA2 will be unavailable when installing M.2 SATA SSD in the M2_1 slot.
** SATA5 & SATA6 will be unavailable when installing M.2 SATA/PCIe SSD in the
M2_2 slot."

Make sure this isn't the cause of your problem.

Thank you, I did not even realize I had more than one M.2 socket. Apparently there was another socket closer to CPU with a cooling plate and everything, changing to that socket solved my problem. Plus it also detects all my storage drives from SATA1 to SATA5.
