So here's my issue. I have a 32GB eMMC memory molded onto motherboard of my notebook and it's just not enough for Windows + Visual Studio etc..

The notebook is: Acer ES1-332-C49U

I got myself an SSD Kingston 120GB sata 3 but I noticed my notebook doesn't have the slot you push HDD/SSD into (sata + sata power adapter)

My friend got me his old cable which is sata on the one end and sata + sata power adapter on the other end.

After powering the notebook it still doesn't recognize the SSD.

Am I doing something wrong, is this even possible to connect? Here are the pictures:

Here's an image of the whole motherboard and the battery. Crazy they didn't include sata + sata power adapter connector.

Why the hell do they have the sata port and the HDD whole anyway. What a waste of money this notebook is. I'll try to see if I can power it somehow, but I am not optimistic.
The base motherboard might be used in multiple different systems. Some with other capabilities.

Your Acer is what it is. Not much you can do to make it better.
It absolutely needs SATA power as well.
Unlikely you can ever get this SSD to work in this laptop.

Does this have an SD card slot? If so, install your Visual Studio application to that.

Damn I am so sad to hear that. It confuses me that it has a hole for an SSD/HDD and a sata connector on the motherboard but no way to power the SSD/HDD.

I'll check if it has an SD card slot, but I reckon you can't install windows 10 to an SD card + 32GB eMMC is not even enough for naked windows 10 and it's updates.

I'll check if there is a way to power the SSD somehow.

Thanks!

I have a similar small 'laptop' with a 32GB eMMC drive. Frustratingly small. Asus Transformer.
It has since been retired.

No, you can't put the OS on the SD card, but your VS, yes.
That 32GB is still too small though, even for 'just windows'.

Even its newer brother with a 64GB eMMC is 'too small'. Used only as a travel device for web browsing and movies.

Finally...the performance of that won't cut it for actual use. Especially VS.
