Can't connect to internet

I recently bought a new desktop computer for school and i cannot get it to connect to the internet. It says unidentified network with limited connection but no internet access. I have the right cat5 ethernet cable and the proper drivers are installed. There is windows 8 loaded on the computer, i dont know if this maters but there is a Cisco Aironet 1140 router in the hall, i only say that cause in all the other posts every one asks. I tried looking up the IP address and DNS from my macbook air but after days of no results I've almost given up. Assistance would be greatly appreciated- Thanks.

Internet access generally requires some sort of account. Either from school, work, or you buy it from your ISP

We have an account for school. I have had no problems with it on my xbox or laptop though.
