Hi!
I've just discovered that I can't control my fan speeds! Not the molex fans, but the CPU and those fans which connect to the MOBO. It never bothered me before, but now I wanna do some OCing and I really need that control over my fans speeds. Now, in the BIOS I see the speed @ 2500RPM, and it's the same @ the MOBO utility. When i raise the fan speed using the utility - nothing happens.

I have an old Gigabyte 865 P4 MOBO (GA-8IPE1000-G).

If your bios does not give you the ability to change the speed, then the fans are at their max. Overclocking does not mean that you have to crank up the cooling. I have my cpu fan on it's lowest setting and the case fans turned down quiet a bit. Before you start increasing your cooling and the noise it makes, see what your temps are at overclock first.

Not all motherboard have auto/manual fan speed control. Most cases older motherboard have only rpm sensors that tells the motherboard wether the cpu fan is spinning. Unfortunately in your case your mobo may not have fan speed control and no you can't use any software tweaks since the mobo don't have voltage control of cpu fan power. The best way for you is to get a molex fan that also have motherboard rpm sensor. The FM121 is on of it and it works really well and it have an rpm control knob.

Socket 775 boards have fan controll (automatic) on all of em, socket 478 motherboards do not and if they did they were buggy at best.
