Cant decide on a CPU, please help!

Im building a computer in august so i wont be able to get one of the new devils canyon cpus, so now im stuck between an i5 and a xeon e3-1231 v3 (haswell refresh of the 1230 v3) im going to be doing video editing work with premiere pro but primarily gaming. Also if you recommend an unlocked processor can you please recommend a good overclocking motherboard thats sub $150? I appreciate the help. (Yes i know the xeon is a server processor but it can be used for gaming and i might begin to write code as well)

1230 v3 all the way! will be better than a i5 get an asrock mobo cheap and play that cpu! one fried mine have oczed the 1230v2 3.8ghz. Nice i7 ops xeon. xD

Why wouldn't you be able to get the devil's canyon? You can order them on amazon now I think. Get the 4790k. A good motherboard is this:

For a cpu, considering you want to do video editing, the more cores the better. eg Xeon or i7 4790.

If you want to overclock, get the i7 4790k
