Hello.

Im building a system with a Ryzen 9900X3D CPU and 5080 GPU.
I have an Asus Rog Strix X670E-E Gaming WiFi board that i was planning to keep bue i do have another newer board, an Asus Rog X870E-E Gaming WiFi that is for another build but i could use it for this PC if it improves things in this regard.

Basically, how many NVMe SSD slots can I populate on these boards with this CPU before making the GPU drop down to PCIe x8 ? I do mind the performance loss.

As far as i can tell both boards have the same number of lanes? My math tells me its 2 nmves since its 24 lanes -16 for the gpu leaving 4 for each drive? Its it really just two? Both boards have so many slots it feels sad to have only 2 in use

Thanks!

So sorry for not getting this. So on the x670e, so long as m2_3 is free im clear to fill the other 3 slots? Here's waht id ont get DO CPU LANES AND SOCKET LANES COUNT TOWARD THE SAME LIMIT OR ARE THEY SEPARATE? Because if not it makes sense my cpu can handle 2 and the socket extras. is this how it works?

on the x870e-e as long as these two mentioned are not populated i can populate the other 3? Does that text means one of the slots alone will nerf pciex16 or will it take BOTH to do it? my cpu lane math says its both but id rather someone who knows more tell me. in that case i can use up to two of cpu ones and both the socket ones??

Basically so long as I avoid the slots listed in the shared bandwith I can populate the others as they go to the chipset?
