Can't decide on a monitor

I'm not sure what kind of monitor to get. I know 1920x1080 is the standard, so is 120Hz worth the buy with my build?
I found this Acer http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009222 it's 3D ready, 120Hz, 80,000:1 contrast ratio and it matches the color of my case, but it's $100 more than this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236100 lower refresh rate, no 3D, LED backlit, and 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio.

I'm pretty much a noob and I don't know what all of that means performance wise (Other than the more expensive one being 3D ready). Is it worth the extra $100 to get the 3D monitor with the build I'm running?

I'm also very open to different monitor suggestions.

Unless you plan on doing 3D gaming, which is still rare, you won't see any noticable difference with the 60HZ monitor. And Asus makes a great monitor. Can't vouch for Acer. The LED backlight, however, is great. Quite a difference from std LCD.

Well if I had the 3D monitor I would definitely take advantage of that, but it seems like $100 might be better spent elsewhere.

Get the ACER. Games run much more smoother on a 120Hz refresh rate monitor, more so when you add another 7950 for Crossfire.

It's the cheapest 120Hz monitor out there at the moment, and it's good quality.

For the record, those contrast ratio numbers are meaningless. And the difference between 5ms and 2ms is arguably imperceptible, depending on the type of gaming you do.

That said, between those two I'd rather have the Acer because it's bigger and you might eventually be happy it's 3D ready (you'll have it for a long time, most likely).

Personally I wouldn't pay for anything other than LG in terms of a PC monitor or a TV.

LG's quality just stands above the rest, and doesn't usually hold any kind of "premium price" like SONY does. LG is affordable and very good quality.

As for the response time - I'd say it matters. 1920x1080 with 2 MS response time and 60Hz is what you should be looking for

In what way would the refresh rate of 120HZ over 60HZ make any difference in gameplay framerate? I presume that is what you meant by "smoother".
