I do not currently have one and looking to get a new one for work. I have checked out Dell XPS 15 model with almost top specs but that fetches a price tag between 1,900 and 2,200£.

Similarly, I want to explore another option of building one. The equivalent specs I'm looking for are:
15.6" screen
Intel Core i7 or i9
Windows 10 Pro (intend to dual boot with Ubuntu)
32 GB RAM
1 TB or more SSD
NVIDIA GeForce RTX
Lightweight, but not Ultrabook light.

Has anyone built a custom laptop before and is able to offer advises and/or recommendations? I am interested in building either from assembling parts (from scratch), or build one from websites.

You're better off buying a laptop made by the brands. FYI, the laptop you're referring to will still be assembled from the factory even if you configure it on their website. You can't source the parts and build it yourself. To add, there are tonnes and tonnes of options for buying laptops. Might want to fill out the questions found on this thread and followup your thread with the necessary information.
